NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Police in Tennessee say they have arrested a Kentucky man in the fatal shooting of a 2-year-old boy.
Media cited a statement from Clarksville police saying 21-year-old Zackery Alexander of Hopkinsville, Kentucky, was charged on Wednesday with criminal homicide in the death of 2-year-old Joseph Bankston. The police statement said the boy’s shooting was “intentional.”
The arrest came the same day the state offered a reward of $15,000 for information in the case.
Gov. Bill Haslam, who announced the reward money, said he hoped it would “bring whoever did this to justice.”
The shooting on Oct. 4 at a home in Clarksville also injured 22-year-old Brandon Jimenez, who is currently in critical condition.
Alexander was booked at the Montgomery County jail. It wasn’t immediately clear whether he has an attorney
